Events for your diary

April 2021.

Hello everyone and I hope this news update finds you all safe and well.

Following a very difficult year for everyone unfortunately the Coronavirus is still with us causing a few restrictions to bowls play once again this year. The Management committee are following the Scottish  Government and Bowls Scotland guidelines for a safe return to bowls. Restrictions are a little easier than last year and we plan to hold round robin singles, pairs and triples competitions to compensate for the cancellation of external association leagues although these may pick up later in the summer. Members are asked to register their interest in these internal leagues at the opening on  Saturday 1 May or as soon after as possible.

A Coronavirus officer has been nominated who has undertaken all necessary risk assessments and along with the successful vaccination programme this will enable safe play on the green, entry to the clubhouse, toilets and locker room area. Guideline notices will be displayed for everyone’s information.

Because of the pandemic restrictions it has been decided to postpone our Centenary celebrations until 2022 and details will be confirmed at a later date.

Things are looking clearer weekly and we look forward to welcoming our members back on the green at the opening.

April 2020

Entering Phase 3 of the Coronavirus and following Government and Bowls Scotland guidelines our club can now relax some of the restrictions which were previously in place.

The club had a successful weekend when it opened the beer garden and now the clubhouse is also open and can welcome members for the sale of alcohol. The clubhouse will open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1.00pm onwards. Hopefully when trade increases further opening times will be considered.

Health and hygiene  and social distancing precautions are in place and members are kindly asked to adhere to the guidance to keep themselves and others safe.

Although the toilets and club house is open unfortunately the locker room is still closed but hopefully this will change in the next few weeks. Arrangements can be made to collect bowls by phoning the secretary.

Clubs are now allowed to have informal and friendly competitions and the Management committee are holding a one day competition on Saturday 1 Aug at 2.00pm and members who wish to participate are asked to put their name on the sheet which is just inside the main entrance door. Hopefully more mini competitions will be organised depending on the interest. Come along and enjoy the company of your fellow bowlers.

Here you can see all the events we have for the season.

Rattray BC opened for the season on Saturday 6 June. Following a welcoming speech and a Minute’s silence for bowling friends departed President Mike Offen threw the first jack of the season. There was a slightly reduced membership present due to the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus virus and the day was blessed with brilliant sunshine. The club has now put into place health and safety measures to enable members to enjoy their bowls. Guidance details are on show for everyone to read. To enable track and trace procedures members are asked to phone the Secretary to book a rink before entering the green.

Please remember the social distancing rule and use the bacterial spray and  handwash provided.

Have fun.
